Danielle Sabrina, founder of Tribe Builder Media company and one of CIO’s 2018 Female Entrepreneurs to Follow, will be one of four judges at the third annual Timmy Awards on Thursday, Oct. 18 at CTRL Collective Playa Vista, 12575 Beatrice Street, in Los Angeles.
Tech In Motion created the international awards series to celebrate regional tech communities and award individuals who are leading the way in startups, diversity, workplace culture, and best management practices. The Timmy Awards, a free event open to the public, takes place this year in 10 cities across the U.S. and Canada throughout the month of October. In Los Angeles, the event kicks off at 7 p.m. with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, music, and product demos. The awards will be given mid-evening with a celebration to follow.
Award winners are determined by 50% judge’s voting and 50% public voting, which is available online through Oct. 3. Sabrina joins Strategic Advisory Group’s venture strategist and startup consultant Sofia Agras, technology and pop culture writer Karen Idelson, and Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s technology program manager Alberto Avalos to judge this year’s finalists on the following criteria:
- Best tech startup: local startup that employs forward-thinking leaders, possesses a great work environment and produces an innovative product that aims to disrupt the market.
- Best tech work culture: work culture that actively promotes technical creativity, innovation, and learning.
- Best tech manager: leader who empowers their team through a clear and communicated vision, promotes career growth, ensures a great team culture and inspires innovation.
- Best tech workplace for diversity: company that treats diversity as a necessary ingredient for creativity and success by implementing diverse hiring practices and promoting collaboration to produce an innovative product.
Last year’s winners in Los Angeles were .xyz for management and diversity, Tuition.io for startup, and Boingo.com for work culture.
